Notting Hill – my very first urban sketching watercolor 🌸

This watercolor is my very first experiment with urban sketching, and I couldn’t think of a better place to start than one of my favorite neighborhoods: Notting Hill.
I wanted to capture the colorful façade of a typical London house, with its bright blue door and the little red steps leading up.

I found this beautiful photo on Instagram by @thedoorsoflondon which I follow with heart eyes, and decided to try.

To bring some sparkle and freshness into the scene, I played around with masking fluid – that’s how the tiny blossoms appeared, painted in my favorite color. 🌸
It was a work of patience and discovery, but also a huge joy. Notting Hill, with its vibrant colors and postcard vibes, turned out to be the perfect subject to begin my watercolor journey.

If you like this piece, you can also find it on different products – prints, notebooks, mugs, and more – available on Redbubble.
